Frozen: Oaken’s Invention

byDisney Books

Frozen: Oaken's Invention is a cosy, funny story for 5 year olds about the cheery shopkeeper from the film and the one idea he just can't find.

What happens

Oaken loves inventing things (sun balm, shoes for walking on top of the snow). Tomorrow his whole family arrives for their reunion, and the best part is always the Creators Contest. The trouble is, he's got nothing at all!

Kristoff drops off some ice, with the trolls' advice to watch for the silver lining. Then Oaken trips over it in the dark. "Uff da!"

Have you ever had your best idea by accident? The Northern Lights make the ice glow, and Oaken works all through the night.

The other inventions are very silly. Uncle Soren is VERY proud of a bent bit of wire for holding papers together (grown-ups will enjoy that one).

It's gentle, with no villain and no frights. Lots of words are in big capitals (great for booming out loud), and the pages are mostly picture. Anna and Elsa only get a mention, so it's best for a little one who loves the film's funnier side.

What to read next

If they enjoy getting ready for a big day, Cinderella: My Perfect Wedding has a wedding that turns out to be tomorrow and mice secretly sewing a veil.
