You're inside Tsunami's head this time. She's brave and loyal and VERY quick to lash out, and then she keeps wondering if she got it wrong. That makes her good company.
There's plenty to laugh at as well. Glory is sharper than ever, Clay still mostly thinks about food, and Tsunami can't stop noticing how handsome Riptide's snout is.
It makes most sense after book one, which is in the library.
The prologue is the same one that opens book one, where a dragon's wings are shredded and a poisoned tail is stabbed through his skull. Tsunami keeps remembering the dragon she killed in an arena. She holds a soldier underwater until he stops struggling. And a dragon the five of them know is found murdered.
If yours is upset by characters getting hurt, that could be a lot. If they enjoyed book one, this keeps up the same pace.
