League of Llamas 2 – Llama Impossible

Aleesah Darlison's Llama Impossible is a silly spy adventure for 7 year olds about a llama secret agent with a VERY impressive fringe.

What happens

Phillipe Llamar is Agent 0011 of the League of Llamas. He's brave and handsome, and he'd happily tell you so himself. He's also a bit clumsy (and he checks his fringe in every mirror he passes).

It opens with a runaway train. The driver has choked on a chocolate-chip cookie and the brakes have been cut. Phillipe happens to be flying overhead in a borrowed Llamaborghini, so he leaps onto the roof to save the day.

The train turns out to be a distraction. While everyone watches it, the Camelid Bank gets robbed. Soon there's a fire across town and a jewel theft too.

Mama Llama, who runs the agency, sends Phillipe and his best friend Lloyd to investigate. Lloyd is always hungry (Mama Llama's new sofa and her umbrella plant are both at risk). The clues seem to point at General Bottomburp, an odious badger famous for his bottom burps.

But is it really him? That's the fun of it. Your reader gets to play detective while Phillipe takes every wrong turn going.

It reads like a cartoon. The gadgets have names like PLLOP and LETTUCE, and there's a llama pun on almost every page. Papua New Guinea Pig! The Dalai Llama! There's plenty of fart humour as well, including a mole rat who lists every word he knows for one.

If you've got a reader who giggles at bottom burps and daft names, this will go down very well. The chapters are short and punchy, so it's easy to read a couple at bedtime and stop on a cliffhanger.
