Dragon Girls 3 – Naomi the Rainbow Glitter Dragon

What happens

This is the third Dragon Girls book, and it's Naomi's turn to lead the quest. She's been to the Magic Forest before with her friends Azmina and Willa, the Gold and Silver Glitter Dragons.

Naomi loves bright colours and gymnastics. So of course her way into the forest is a flower that keeps changing colour, followed by a perfect midair somersault!

This time the sneaky Shadow Sprites are stealing the colour from the whole forest. The flowers turn grey and start to smell like cardboard (yuck). The Tree Queen knows a potion that could stop them, but the sprites are listening in. So she hides each ingredient inside a riddle.

That's the best bit. Your reader can try to crack each riddle before Naomi does. What seems calm but is actually petrified? Who doesn't have a leg to stand on? No spoilers here, but the answers are much more fun than you'd expect!

There's a new friend too. Unichick is a tiny rainbow bird with a unicorn horn, and she's very good at cheering Naomi on.

It's a lovely book about believing in yourself. Naomi is nervous about being in charge, and the sprites whisper mean things to make her give up. Her friends find a clever way to remind her she's not on her own. If you've got a reader who sometimes doubts themselves, that part might really land.

The action moves fast, with flying, chases and a storm, but it stays on the gentle side of scary. The girls are always kind, even to the creatures other people are frightened of.
