Alice Hemming’s Bibble and the Bubbles is a gentle alien friendship story for 5 year olds that floats along on nothing but bubbles.

Bobby blows bubbles in his garden. Some pop. Some drift up, up, up into the sky. Where do they go?

Far out in space, Bibble loves catching them. So when the bubbles suddenly stop, he builds a bubble spaceship and sets off to find out why. (Who wouldn’t want a bubble spaceship?)

He lands in Bobby’s garden, and the two of them hit it off straight away. There are bubble animals, and even a bubble bicycle! When the mixture runs out, they simply make more.

Of course, Bibble can’t stay forever. The goodbye is handled very gently, and there’s a special present that makes it all feel OK.

The sentences are short and friendly, with just enough going on to hold a young reader’s attention.

If they enjoy this one, George and the New Craze is by the same author and in the same easy style. George and his friends at the wildlife park are all collecting People Cards, and it takes a bit of sharing to finish the set.
