This time the story belongs to Tsunami. She’s the bossy SeaWing of the five dragonets, and she’s just found out her egg was stolen from the SeaWing queen’s hatchery. So she’s a princess. One day she’ll be queen.<\/p>\n
She’s spent her whole life in a cave under a mountain. Now she’s finally at the ocean, and she can’t wait to find her family.<\/p>\n
It doesn’t go the way she pictured. The sea is rougher than the cave river she grew up with. The first SeaWing she meets is baffled by her, because nobody ever told her SeaWings have their own language. And her friends are cross with her for attacking a dragon who might just have been yawning.<\/p>\n
Then she meets her mother, Queen Coral. Coral hugs her, hangs pearls round her neck and keeps her littlest daughter tied to her with a harness. None of her other daughters have lived to grow up.<\/p>\n
You’re inside Tsunami’s head this time. She’s brave and loyal and VERY quick to lash out, and then she keeps wondering if she got it wrong. That makes her good company.<\/p>\n
There’s plenty to laugh at as well. Glory is sharper than ever, Clay still mostly thinks about food, and Tsunami can’t stop noticing how handsome Riptide’s snout is.<\/p>\n
It makes most sense after book one, which is in the library.<\/p>\n
Worth knowing before you hand it over. The prologue is the same one that opens book one, where a dragon’s wings are shredded and a poisoned tail is stabbed through his skull. Tsunami keeps remembering the dragon she killed in an arena. She holds a soldier underwater until he stops struggling. And a dragon the five of them know is found murdered.<\/p>\n
If yours is upset by characters getting hurt, that could be a lot. If they enjoyed book one, this keeps up the same pace.<\/p>\n
